terrific show with an interesting second set
-Nick

This was Jerry's birthday ! I heard that psychedelic sacraments were passed from the stage area to the front rows of party-goers. I was a bit further back from the stage. Walls of speakers gave us all encompassing sound !! Classic Grateful Dead !! Great Dark Star and Morning Dew !! This was The Dead at their best!

got some of the second set. does anyone have this show?

I was 16 and went with my brother and his college friends. First night I ever got high. The Band started off with a kick-ass set. Great opening act! The Dead came on around 9:30-10pm. I remember sitting in the box seats behind homeplate totally captured by Morning Dew. Then somebody dropped a whole bunch of mylar strips of the roof of the stadium during Dark Star. Really cosmic. I got home about 2:30am. Magical night!

A superb Dark Star, El Paso, Eyes combo.

the Dark Star! Oh my. Eyes is outstanding, gets a little laborious, but hey. Morning Dew is flippin sweet. Wish GDP could put this one out officially.

I've got a soundboard copy of this show. It's VERY good. Great energy, great set and total classic Grateful Dead.

I don't understand the love fest with the Eyes here. Dead projects Top Ten? This is not a top 10 eyes i'm sorry.

DSO played this set list last night (8/1/2014) at Pocahontas State Park in Virginia. A band called The Weight (a Band tribute) opened with the Band's set from 7/31/73. Great fun but wet, rainy night!

-Lightnin' (08/02/2014)

Last show with Jerry's Alligator '57 Strat!!
-Benjamin Rea (07/09/2018)

This is one of my most played shows. I certainly know the Dark Star > El Paso > Eyes > Dew section note for note. Incredible sequence of music, and in my opinion perhaps the best the Dead ever had. And I know that's saying a lot. Dark Star is haunting, beautiful and reaches deep space. El Paso bring us back down to Earth but still has lots of energy. Eyes, while flawed at times, is raw and spirited, and I can hear what Jerry was going for even when he hits a sour note or two. And the Dew is sublime. Right up there with the other great Dews like 10/18/74 and 9/18/87. Rest of the show can be skipped, but this 4-song sequence can NOT. Get it.
