Garcia is so frustrated at his voice that he slammed the mic down during Black peter
-dave (02/24/2008)

it blows my mind how garcia could sound so shot in this show with his voice sounding like its on its last leg then not even 3 days later is singing like his old self again at the centrum, namley the 4/9/88 show; his voice sounds really strong and all the guys are playin some really inspired stuff. i guess thats just the grateful dead....off some nights but magical on others.

they usually always played really good in hartford too, the two shows they played there in 1990 were so great. 3/18/90 and 3/19/90 - highly reccomend those especially 3/19

I remember the whole frustrated mike thing. I was listening to this on gdradio.net and it sounded like that show so I checked here of course. 88 was an interesting year for certain.

Jerry musta been breathin that Jersey air for too many days.
-Murphy (03/26/2014)

More like breathing too much of the afghani heroin, but like the rest he'd probably blame the tinfoil

Well yeah man. Why they gotta put that coating on it. Only messes with my buzz!!!
-Anonymous (04/03/2018)

Considering how often Jerry and Bob forgot lyrics to their own tunes, it's amazing how regularly they both nailed the lyrics of long and complex Dylan tunes. You rarely hear Bob mess up 'Desolation Row' (10 unique verses) or 'Stuck Inside of Mobile ' (9 unique verses) or Jerry with 'Tangled Up In Blue' (7 unique verses) or 'Visions of Johanna' (5).

I guess Dylan's writing is just so sublime, it sticks in the memory like super glue.
-Dr Filth (04/03/2023)

Jerry was using a teleprompter when he sang almost all the versions of Visions of Johanna (versions of visions!) they ever played. Still mighty fine...
