I know Santana opened both days - I honestly can't remember if I went to Sat show or Sun. Anyone know if Santana played with the dead on a song or 2 on the Sat. show (I know someone said he played Bird Song on Sun). This was actually my LAST show (saw some in Compton Terrace and many in early-mid 80's - and saw some Other Ones and The DEAD few yrs ago) and I was a little messed up and KNOW Santana played with them a few songs. Trying to figure if Sat (which I thought) or Sun. Any help appreciated.

The Bird song IS all that and a bag of chips. I'll say this much, though: I can't make out the difference between Jerry's guitar and Carlos's guitar. Who knows? I'm sure he's in there somewhere. The mix is awfully good (thanks Charlie! Where DOES he get all these killer SBDS anyways?) but I haven't heard anything except the Birdsong so far. I usually don't take ONE song and pick it out to judge a show, but sometimes you CAN and it's a good overall indicator. If this Bird Song IS any indicator, this show is awesome. I like to read up on shows before and during my listening session... WAIT a second - he just jumped in. :) around the 7:09 mark... I think, anyways. I don't have a major in music.

ANY WAYS - I like early seventies and late sixties, but for a NINTIES show this is pretty sweet. I give it (so far) 4 out of 4 stars. I mean, it ain't no 3-1-69 afterall. :) Peace you damn hippies!! ;)

if one had to rank all "Foolish Hearts" on a scale from 11 to 26, where would this one fall? That pretty song does such wonders for me!

My last live Dead concert. The 27th was my 24th birthday. My recollection was that the 27th was very windy and dusty and generally unpleasant. But the 28th was a great day. I got inside early and I was watching a bunch of heads playing volleyball - someone had erected a net or two out in the center of the field. I turned to the gentleman standing next to me, also taking it in, and to my surprise it was Bill Graham. I remember making a remark something along the lines of 'why can't we bring in Bill Walton to set up some hoops before the shows?'. Mr. Graham seemed to consider it but then allowed that probably insurance would have a problem with it. Cool guy. He would die in a helicopter crash later that year. RIP

Woah what a nice looking show. A lot of interesting things. Deal into space, highly unusual-although I have seen Dead and Company employ such a setlist layout.

Additionally, I am a big fan of the Sunshine Daydream closer which wraps up the Sugar Mag Set II opener from the previous night. Cool stuff!
