perhaps one of the most overlooked and underrated shows of the 90's.

this is a really great late era show, possibly one of the best, it is a dicks picks for a reason and i highly reccomend getting it (#27). There is some really great playing by Vince who was feeling quite comfortable by now. Hornsby had been gone since early in the year and since then Vince seems to have really progressed, playing all sorts of interesting leads. look out for some good Tom Tom work my Mickey on Stuck inside of mobile. the whole first set is a real highlight in itself with every song being really strong but when shakedown opens the second you know its on for the rest of the night. 2nd to last casey jones closes.

also a good show to go along with this is 3/20/92 at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. One of Bruces last shows as an offical member.

actually is mickey playing bongos on stuck inside of mobile? i thought it was those fancy toms he has but who knows.
-dead_chris (04/05/2009)

this has gotta be one of the best shakedowns ever. they hit every single note perfect and the jammin is incredible. Let it grow and Roy Jimmy are great too

dead_chris, Mickey is playing bongos on Stuck inside of Mobile and he is also playing congas on Let it Grow.

Best show I ever saw of the Vince era, hands down. Heavy-duty material front to back. Because of 6/20 and 6/28/92: RFK and Deer Creek, IN respectively us heads on the the west coast knew we were going to get the Casey Jones and probably a Dark Star in this split five-night run, but which show? Had to buy all five to ensure it. And it happened. I'm sure a significant portion of the crowd got their first (and last) Casey Jones, unless you saw 3/27/93.

Check the record on this website, never mind I'll do it. West coast/Bay Area Casey Jones before this show from December 16th, 1992: Berkeley Community Center 11/2/84, Berkeley Greek Theater, 5/23/82, Oakland Aud. 12-30-81, & 12/28/80. Warfield, 10/9 & 10/13/80. Oakland Aud. 12/28/79 Winterland 12/31/78 and 12/31/77 and 10/17/74. Oakland Coliseum Stadium 6/8/74, UCSB 5/25/74, Cow Palace 3/23/74. Winterland 2/23/74. Pauly Pavilion 11/17/73. You get the idea.

This night was crazy, Jerry was in great spirits after some time off and a few warm up nights before this...the whole band seemed ready to explode as did the crowd. Epic!

Noodles Romanov gets treated to a an exceptional birthday show. Great setlist , not a bad tuned played. Unfortunately he was pussy whipped at the time and his hurt intake was limited to 2 beers. Jerry driving the train this night - MVP !!
-Brian Olios (12/16/2017)

The Row Jimmy from this show is stupendous! Jerry songs each line with great care and the licks that accompany his singing are truly something to behold.
-Grateful Dan (12/15/2021)

A friend with a great ear pointed me to me the Ship of Fools here; turns out this is the first SoF after Jerry turned 50... and he marks that by singing "...fifty years upon my head, to have you call me child."

I've always loved how the Dead did 'the little things' like that~
