Comments:

I attended. Mr. Aldridge's review in volume 3 "Taping Compendium" is accurate if you have that resource.

After re-listening to this show, I wanted to comment. First, my cassette masters have that muddy sound that Nassau Coliseum and Hartford Civic Center recordings often had. Second, the first set does nothing to engage my interest except for Cassidy and even here I've heard better. The first set is played competently and there is little in the way of errors. It just seems rote and un-creative in any way. Mr. Aldridge uses the phrase "competent-but-standard".

Eyes of the World opens set 2 and is a rhythm exercise without ornamentation. The last half of the song Jerry is playing rhythm strum chords and this is pretty much how it ends. The next 2 songs are standard and nothing special. The "guts" of set 2 is Terrapin through Throwing Stones. The band amps up the energy and the verve of the songs. Terrapin is essentially played without error and is the highlight of this show. Great latter-day Terrapin Station! Drums/Space is the second best part of the night. Well done indeed!! Wheel and TS are more than competent and energetic. In NFA, Jerry does his rhythm strum thing like in Eyes. NFA is a short and uneven version. Mr. Aldridge liked the NFA vocal jam at the end. I thought the song never came together -- sung enthusiastically, but instrumental interplay is lacking - at least to my ears.

Liberty encore is real good.
